Ethical dilemmas

Amid all the hullaballoo of ex-U.S. Rep Mark Foley's naughty e-mails, Oregon legislators accepting freebies from lobbyists and god knows what other usual business, here's a simple piece of advice, which is of course easier to offer than to follow:

If you wouldn't want to see it on the front page of your local paper, don't do it.

Luckily for newspapers, nobody listens.

Not only lucky for newspapers, but also bloggers, talking heads, humorists, and many others. In the "information age", your advice should be amended to read:

"If you don't want the whole world to know about it, don't do it"

Because, today, the whole world will know faster than you think. Just ask Britney Spears or Paris Hilton.
