She has been posting her 40@40 song list over the past few months, with explainations as to why she likes the songs.
(TenS and I started the 40@40 by making CDs as parties favors for our joint 40th B-day party last year, and some of our other friends have joined in with their own compilations)
Very cool, and the CDs are a good idea, too! Explanations, eh? Yeah, that makes sense:
Pancho and Lefty - My favorite song. Enigmatic and sad, a song of the road.
Telling Stories - Too personal to put on a blog.
Tom Joad - OK, I didn't know this was a response to Grapes of Wrath until, um, 1999. But I grew up walking in the orchards, fields and hopyards, so this resonates.
32 Flavors - A thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy, while you're simply flying past - I guess this one is in the same category as Telling Stories, really.
If I Needed You - I don't think the butterfly lady knows it, but there's not a hard time that's been invented I would not handle for her.

You had me worried, at first blush, that In Her Shell was a clone of me! Then I realized it was your list after reading hers... hmmm.
Significant songs. What's the explanation of significance?
Are we talking a below 5% chance that I won't have an emotional reaction to the song ten years from now?
Having not been provided a definition of significance, I'll use the one I just decided on.
